The direct opposite of spiritual ignorance is wisdom, and good news for us, wisdom is readily available to all who desire it and choose to seek it. Unlike the 52 countries where the Bible is banned, the United States still has free access to God’s Word. What a tremendous blessing. Through His Word, God gives wisdom in abundance to all those who ask. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him (James 1:5). 
 
The book of Proverbs personifies wisdom as a lady who is calling out in the streets to all who are willing to listen, commanding us to gain prudence, knowledge, and wisdom. When Scripture commands us to listen, God is giving us another precious opportunity to trade our willful ignorance for His divine wisdom. True wisdom is found only in Jesus Christ. He is the highest, purest, truest form of wisdom that exists because through faith in Him, we have eternal life. Human philosophy and worldly wisdom cannot grant us eternal life, but the divine wisdom found in Jesus does. We come to know, trust, and love Jesus through reading God’s Word.
